FG Begins Blocking Sims With No NIN – Check if yours will be blocked
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has given telecommunications operators (MTN, Glo, Airtel, 9Mobile and others) in the country two weeks to block all SIM cards that are not registered with the National Identity Numbers (NIN), the Commission has said in a statement.

As of 30th of December, 2020, all Sims without a valid National Identity Number (NIN) will cease to function, the Federal Government through the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) warned
All sims not linked properly with the nation’s National Identity Number (NIN) will be blocked, and will cease to exist thereafter.
This is coming at a time; when the Federal Government is checkmating terrorism, kidnapping and other cyber, internet and unholy assembly of enemies against the state.
This directive was given at the recently concluded key stakeholders organized by Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy
After December 30, 2020, all Subscriber Identification Modules that are not registered with valid National Identification Numbers on the network of telecommunications companies shall be blocked, the Federal Government has declared.
Meanwhile, all operators in the telecommunications business, like the MTN, Globalcom, 9mobile nerwork, Airtel have swung into action to get subscribers’ National Identity Number (NIN) swiftly
Operators to require all their subscribers to provide valid National Identification Number to update SIM registration records”
This Means that, there will be massive queue in all offices of those telecommunications companies any moment from now
The submission of NIN by subscribers to take place within two weeks (from today December 16, 2020, and end by 30 December 2020). After the deadline, all SIMs without NINs are to be blocked from the networks.”
Violations of this directive will be met by stiff sanctions, including the possibility of withdrawal of the operating license,”
