How to Link Your NIN Number with your Sim online (For MTN Users)

​The submission of NIN by subscribers is to take place within two weeks, today December 16, 2020 and end by 30 December, 2020.

“After the deadline, ALL SIMs without NINs will be blocked from making or receiving calls.”

The Chairman, went ahead to state that service providers who fail to abide by the order should be ready to face stiff penalties.

“​Violations of this directive will be met by stiff sanctions, including the possibility of withdrawal of operating license,” Ike added.

This new development has since caused pandemonium in Nigeria social media space as people wonder why there’s need for such since the citizens can be identified by BVN (Bank Verification Number), voter’s card, National ID card etc.


Well, in oder to help Nigerians, the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) had disclosed the code to dial to retrieve one’s NIN. This can only be achieved using one’s registered SIM to dial *346# at the charge of #20.

Furthermore, a good news has come up for MTN users. The telecom giant has made it easier for their customers to link their NINs to their SIMs at the comfort of their homes.

This could be achieved through a website established by the service provider, https:mtnonline.com/nin/

But the easiest way to achieve the linking is via USSD code.

To link your NIN with your MTN sim, all you need do is dial *785# and you’ll successfully link your NIN to your SIMs.
