The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced the commencement of the NAF SSCE Recruitment 2024, offering opportunities for young Nigerians to serve their country.

The online registration is set to start on 21 August 2024 and will close on 2 October 2024. As you prepare to apply, it’s essential to understand that the entire application process is FREE OF CHARGE, and no payment should be made at any point throughout the exercise.

General Instructions for Applicants

  1. Nationality: Only Nigerian citizens by birth are eligible to apply. Applicants must possess a National Identity Card, NIN, or BVN.
  2. Age Requirements:
    • Non-Tradesmen/Tradeswomen: Applicants must be between 18 and 22 years old by 20 September 2025. Those born before 20 September 2003 are not eligible.
    • Tradesmen/Tradeswomen: Applicants must be between 18 and 25 years old by 20 September 2025. Those born before 20 September 2000 are not eligible.
    • Special Roles (Chaplains Assistant/Assistant Imams and Driver/Mechanic): Must be between 18 and 28 years old by 20 September 2025. Those born before 20 September 1997 are not eligible.
  3. Marital Status: Applicants must be single.
  4. Height: The minimum height requirement is 1.66m for males and 1.63m for females.
  5. Medical Fitness: Applicants must be medically, physically, and psychologically fit and meet the NAF’s medical and employment standards.
  6. Local Government Area Attestation Form: This form must be signed by a high-ranking official from the applicant’s state. This includes military officers of rank Wing Commander and above, Police Officers of Assistant Commissioner rank and above, Local Government Chairmen/Secretaries, Magistrates, or Principals of the secondary schools attended by the applicants. The form must be accompanied by the signee’s passport photograph and a photocopy of their Driver’s License, National ID Card, or International Passport.
  7. Presentation of Original Credentials: Successful applicants must submit their original credentials for scrutiny at the Selection Board Interview Exercise, including:
    • Two recent passport-sized photographs.
    • Original and photocopy of birth certificate or Declaration of Age.
    • Original and photocopy of educational/trade certificates.
    • Original and photocopy of Indigeneship certificate.
    • Original and photocopy of Attestation to Good Character.
  8. Important Notice: Any applicant suspected of impersonation or submission of false documents will be disqualified and handed over to the Nigeria Police for prosecution. The NAF will not entertain any enquiries for rejected applications.
  9. Application Form: After filling out the application form, print the following documents:
    • Acknowledgment Form
    • Parent/Guardians Consent Form
    • Local Government Area Attestation Form
  10. Selection Board Interview Exercise: Successful applicants will be invited for this exercise through the portal.

Academic Requirements

Non-Tradesmen/Women: Applicants must possess a minimum of 5 credits, including Mathematics and English Language, in not more than 2 sittings in SSCE/NECO/GCE/NABTEB. School testimonials are also required.

Tradesmen/Women Requirements

Applicants must possess ND/NCE certificates from accredited institutions with at least a lower credit and a minimum of 5 credits, including Mathematics and English Language, in not more than 2 sittings.


Specific trades like drivers require a minimum of 2 passes in SSCE/NECO/GCE/NABTEB with a credit in English and a valid driving license.

Applicants with HND, First Degrees, Post-Graduate Certificates, or University Diplomas are not eligible to apply as airmen/airwomen. Those with medical qualifications must have registration evidence with the relevant professional bodies and a valid practicing license.

Specific Requirements for Tradesmen/Women

  • Aircraft Engineering: ND in disciplines such as Aircraft Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, and Avionics Engineering.
  • Armament Technology: ND in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Air Traffic Services: ND in Meteorology, Air Traffic Controller Assistant, and related fields.
  • Professional Allied to Medicine: ND in Environmental Health, Community Health, and related medical fields with a valid practicing license.
  • Nursing: National/Professional Diploma in Nursing with a valid practicing license.
  • Communication and Information Technology: ND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, and related fields.
  • Administration, Account and Budget, Logistics, Air Provost, Air Intelligence: ND in relevant fields.
  • Languages: NCE in French, Mandarin, Russian, and Arabic.
  • Education: NCE in English Language, Mathematics, Technical Education, and Business Studies.
