FG Launches Empowerment Portal: Great Achievements For Sadiya In 2021

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development (MHDSD), Umar Sadiya Farouq has proved to be an outstanding Minister in the Buhari led government.

Great strides have been achieved within a short time. It is no doubt, the Buhari led government has methodically addressed the issue of humanitarian affairs and poverty reduction within a short time

And Sadiya Umar Farouq is a pioneer in this project. Not only has she made changes in the enter National Social Investment Programme but implemented policies and programs to support the President ambition to lift more than a 100Million Nigerian from Strict poverty.


The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development have the following agencies under its umbrella:

  • National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI)
  • North-East Development Commission (NEDC), National Agency for Prohibition and Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP)
  • National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD)
  • National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD)
  • Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (OSSAP-SDGs).
  • National Social Investment Programmes (NSIP), which has the following four components:
  • Home-Grown School Feeding Programme (HGSFP);
  • Job Creation Unit (N-Power);
  • Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT); and
  • The Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP).

Recent Achievements of Sadiya Umar Farouq in 2021 include the following:

  • The rollout Special Cash Grant for Rural Women (125,000 rural women nationwide benefiting from a 20,000 one-off grant)
  • Flag-off of the Rapid Response Register (RRR) will enable COVID-19 cash transfers to Nigeria’s urban poor.
  • The onboarding of 5,000 independent monitors for the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP)
  • Doubled the Batch C Npower slot to One Million
  • The launch of an Empowerment Portal known as NEXIT affiliate program for exiting N-Power volunteers of Batches A and B
