Elizabethtown Community and Technical College are able to offer many scholarships each academic year. Some of these scholarships are for students pursuing any degree and/or major while some are specifically identified by the donors to be awarded to students in specific college degree plans.

ECTC Scholarship 2022-2023 Application

Kelley O’Rourke Abell Nursing Scholarship Fund

AWARD: $1000; $500 paid for the fall semester, $500 paid for the spring semester with at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA

ELIGIBILITY: Must be admitted to the Associate Degree Nursing Program; Preference is given to a non-traditional student (adult-learner) with children.

Abound Credit Union Purple Heart Scholarship

AWARD: $2,000

ELIGIBILITY: Must have unmet financial aid and have at least a 2.0 GPA. Applicants may be current or first-time students pursuing a credential in any field. All other qualifications being equal, preference will be given to a Purple Heart recipient, the spouse or direct descendent of a Purple Heart recipient, or child with a servicemember as the legal guardian, or spouse or descendent of a service member killed in action or who died of wounds sustained in military service. Recipients must maintain satisfactory academic progress to be eligible for the scholarship after the first semester.

Marc Evan Beeler Memorial Journalism Award

AWARD: Varies

ELIGIBILITY: Must be enrolled as a full-time second-year student; reside in Hardin County; be a graduate of a Hardin County high school; demonstrate superior academic achievement, superior integrity, high moral principles, and community responsibility; pursue an Associate in Arts degree with a focus in journalism, broadcasting, or communications. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate an interest in journalism.

Bobby Bow Memorial Scholarship

AWARD: $1000

ELIGIBILITY: Must be admitted to a technical program, with preference given to preparing for careers in building trades; new or returning students enrolled on a full-time or part-time basis; preference is given to students with unmet financial needs and/or residents from Rineyville.

Herman and Emma Brackett Endowed Scholarship

AWARD: Varies

ELIGIBILITY: The student must demonstrate financial need and be on a path to pursue a degree in electrical engineering. All other qualifications being equal, preference should be given to a female student.

Edith Dupin Community Leader Scholarship

AWARD: $500

ELIGIBILITY: Must meet minimum academic standards, be a resident of Hardin County and demonstrate leadership ability.

Fulfilling the Promise Endowed Scholars’ Fund

AWARD: Varies

ELIGIBILITY: Must be a full-time student and meet minimum academic standards. Selection based on academic potential.

Elizabethtown, Hardin and LaRue County Retired Teachers Association Transfer Scholarship

AWARD: $750

ELIGIBILITY: Must be transferring to a four-year Kentucky college or university to major in teacher education; be a graduate of Central Hardin High School, Elizabethtown High School, John Hardin High School, LaRue County High School, or North Hardin High School; and attend at least one EHLRTA meeting.

Elizabethtown Industrial Foundation Training Consortium (EIFTC) Scholarship

AWARD: $3000

ELIGIBILITY: Must meet minimum academic standards, be age 26 or younger, and be the dependent of a parent or legal guardian who is employed by an EHCIF Training Consortium member company (AGC Automotive, Akebono, Altec Industries, The Cecilian Bank, City of Elizabethtown, Dow Chemical, Flex Films, Gates Corporation, Metalsa, Mouser Cabinetry, Orbis Corporation, Plastikon, and Soudal). ELIGIBILITY: Must be a graduate of Elizabethtown High School, Central Hardin High School, or John Hardin High School; demonstrate outstanding academic performance; be a full-time student, and maintain satisfactory academic progress (2.0 cumulative GPA) to be eligible for a scholarship after the first semester.

Engineering & Electronic Technology Department Scholarship

AWARD: $500

ELIGIBILITY: Declared Engineering and Electronic Technology Program major; Minimum of 30 hours completed at ECTC; Minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA; Preference will be given to a non-traditional student (adult-learner) and must demonstrate satisfactory academic progress to be eligible for the scholarship after the first semester.

Equity Through Education Scholarship

AWARD: Varies

ELIGIBILITY: Must be a credential-seeking student with a minimum 2.0 GPA. Applicants may be current or first-time ECTC students. All qualifications being equal, preference is given to students with unmet financial needs from diverse backgrounds, including racial and ethnic backgrounds. Essay required: How do you plan to increase diversity, inclusiveness, and equity in your community through the career you are pursuing? Why are equity and inclusion important?

Fourth District Retired Teachers Association Scholarship

AWARD: $500

ELIGIBILITY: Recipient must be a resident of Kentucky’s Fourth District (Breckinridge, Elizabethtown/Hardin/LaRue, Grayson, Green, Hart, Marion, Meade, Nelson, Taylor, and Washington County); must have been a graduate of a high school in the Fourth District area and must be majoring in the field of teacher education.

Pamela Cohns Fox Memorial Scholarship

AWARD: $1000

ELIGIBILITY: Must be a credential-seeking student with a minimum 2.0 GPA. Applicants may be current or first-time ECTC students. Preference is given to a student with unmet financial needs.

Gene Haas Foundation Scholarship

AWARD: Varies

ELIGIBILITY: Must be a credential-seeking student in Computer Manufacturing and Machining. Applicants may be current or first-time ECTC students. Preference is given to a student with unmet financial needs.

Hardin LaRue Medical Society Endowed Nursing Scholarship Fund

AWARD: $1000

ELIGIBILITY: Recipient must be enrolled in the Associate Degree Nursing Program; have potential to succeed as a Registered Nurse; be in good standing with the college, and demonstrate financial need.

With all other qualifications being equal, priority will be given to women and minority students who have been impacted by the criminal justice system. Essay required: How have you been impacted by the criminal justice system and why do you intend to pursue a career in this field?


KCTCS Commonwealth Scholarship

AWARD: Varies

ELIGIBILITY: Must be a Kentucky resident; current year high school graduate in the top quartile of their high school graduating class; or prior year high school graduates in the top quartile of their high school graduating class. This nonrecurring scholarship is awarded to students enrolled for at least 6 credit hours and may be used for tuition, books, and other related educational expenses.

KCTCS Kentucky Colonels Better Life Scholarship

AWARD: $2500

ELIGIBILITY: Provides four semesters of assistance so students can either earn a two-year degree and go to work or transfer to a four-year school. Recipients should be first-time students and must demonstrate satisfactory academic progress to be eligible for the scholarship after the first semester. Must be a Kentucky resident; attend ECTC full-time to pursue an associate degree; be a single working parent with one or more children under the age of 12; demonstrate enthusiasm for learning and potential for academic success; demonstrate financial need that has not been met by other sources.

KCTCS Presidential Scholarship

AWARD: Varies

ELIGIBILITY: Must be a Kentucky resident enrolled for at least 6 credit hours. The award may be used for tuition, books, and other related educational expenses.

KCTCS John T. Smith Scholarship

AWARD: Varies

ELIGIBILITY: Must be African American student; a Kentucky resident; must demonstrate potential for success in postsecondary education. Nonrecurring scholarship awarded to students enrolled for at least 6 credit hours.

KCTCS Toyota Manufacturing Kentucky Scholarship

AWARD: $2500

ELIGIBILITY: Must be enrolled in an automotive field, have at least a 3.0 GPA, and demonstrate financial need. All qualifications being equal, preference is given to a Latino student.

Kentucky Retired Teachers Association/N.O. Kimbler Memorial Scholarship

AWARD: $1500

ELIGIBILITY: Must meet minimum College criteria to qualify and should be enrolled in a teacher education program.

Martha Ailene Knudson Memorial Endowed Nursing Scholarship Fund

AWARD: $500

ELIGIBILITY: Must be enrolled in the Associate Degree Nursing Program; must be in good standing and demonstrate financial need.

LG&E/KY Innovation Scholarship

AWARD: $1,750

ELIGIBILITY: Must have at least a 2.5 GPA minimum; be a high school senior in the ECTC service area; have a good attendance record; be enrolled in programs eligible for the craft-worker internship; be interested in the energy field, be a full-time student starting in the fall semester, and plan to work for LG&E KU if selected for the internship program for any of these programs. Engineering and Electronics Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Auto Diesel, and Industrial Electricity. Essay required (2 pages, double spaced) on trends in the energy industry, especially in the Commonwealth.

Dr. George and Hazel Luster Endowed Scholarship

AWARD: Varies

ELIGIBILITY: Must be a Kentucky resident and meet minimum academic standards.

Jerry Murrell Scholarship

AWARD: $500

ELIGIBILITY: Must have unmet financial need; preference given to those who have completed ECTC’s CODE program, no specific field of study required. Applicants may be current or first-time ECTC students.

Pay it Forward Scholarship

AWARD: $500

ELIGIBILITY: Must have successfully completed one year of study at ECTC, maintain at least a 2.0 GPA, demonstrate financial need, and be a credential-seeking student. Open to both full-time and part-time students.

Bill Pitcock Memorial Endowed Scholarship

AWARD: $2000; $1000 for the fall semester, $1000 for the spring semester if the recipient achieves at least a 3.0 GPA.

ELIGIBILITY: Must be pursuing a credential in a technical program and submit two letters of recommendation (at least one from a teacher) which speak to the student’s potential to succeed.  Students must meet the criteria for need-based financial assistance.

Rineyville Optimist Club Scholarship

AWARD: $1000

ELIGIBILITY: Must be enrolled in a technical program. Preference is given to students with unmet financial needs, students preparing for a career in building trades, and/or residents of Rineyville.

Dr. Robert and Rita Robbins Excellence in Allied Health Education endowed Scholarship

AWARD: Varies

ELIGIBILITY: Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and plan to obtain a certificate or degree in an Allied Health program. Preference is given to students with unmet financial needs. Applicants may be current or first-time ECTC students.

Tanya “The Game Changer” Seabrooks Memorial Scholarship

AWARD: $2,000

ELIGIBILITY: Applicants may be current or first-time ECTC students. Applicants should be in good academic standing and demonstrate community involvement or be involved in social justice advocacy. All qualifications being equal, priority will be given to a female student, a student planning to start their own business, a student who is active in social justice advocacy, or a student from Radcliff. Essay required: How will you change the game in your community if you receive this scholarship? How will you create opportunities for justice and equity?

Timothy M. Sessoms Memorial Scholarship

AWARD: $1,000

ELIGIBILITY: Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA, unmet financial need, and be pursuing a career in health or fitness. All qualifications being equal, priority will be given to a student who demonstrates involvement in a faith community. Applicants may be full-time or part-time students and be current or first-time ECTC students. Essay required: How has your faith impacted your daily life? Why are health and fitness important to you?

Dr. Michael F. Stephens Scholarship

AWARD: $400

ELIGIBILITY: Must be a full-time student, meet the minimum academic standards, and demonstrate financial need.

Vinson and Mary M. Thomas Memorial Scholarship

AWARD: Varies

ELIGIBILITY: Must be admitted to the Associate Degree Nursing Program or the Business Administration Program. Awards alternate annually between the two areas and will focus on Business for 2022-2023. Must be a parent and demonstrate financial need. Preference is given to a student age 25 or older and a Grayson County resident.

Tim D. Turner Family Scholarship

AWARD: $500

ELIGIBILITY: Must have a 3.0 GPA and be enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a credential in welding. The recipient must maintain satisfactory academic progress to be eligible for the scholarship after the first semester.

Walking with Purpose Scholarship

AWARD: $500

ELIGIBILITY: Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and have unmet financial needs. All qualifications being equal, priority will be given to a minority female student who demonstrates involvement in a faith community. Applicants may be current or first-time ECTC students. Essay required: As a minority female, you have likely experienced adversity along your journey to academic success. What did you do to overcome these challenges, and how do you plan to assist the next generation of minority females?

Hope Wheeler Memorial Scholarship

AWARD: $500

ELIGIBILITY: Must be a senior at Elizabethtown High School who plans to enroll full-time at ECTC or be a current ECTC student; major in education; and provide evidence of volunteerism, service-learning, or service to others. Essay required: why the applicant wants to major in education, what educational field the applicant plans to specialize in, why providing a strong educational foundation is important to children, why the applicant wants to attend ECTC, and how the scholarship will help the applicant.

Wright Implement Agriculture Scholarship

AWARD: $500

ELIGIBILITY: Must be a credential-seeking student majoring in agriculture. Preference is given to a student with unmet financial needs. Applicants may be current or first-time ECTC students.

Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship

AWARD: Varies

ELIGIBILITY: A college student must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, a Kentucky resident, and high school graduate or be enrolled in a GED + program; Have not yet earned an associate’s or higher degree; enrolled, or accepted for enrollment at an eligible post-secondary institution in an approved program of study that leads to an industry-recognized certificate or diploma or Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in a high-demand workforce sector.
