Old National ID Card no Longer Useful, How to get the new one

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) in a new update advised Nigerians still using the old National Identity Card to Enroll for NIN that the old National ID has since been DISCONTINUED.

Those who are still holding the old NIMC ID CARD should endeavor to visit the NIMC center or any network operators center to obtain a new national ID card as mandated by the Federal Government.


Sooner or later; you will be called to Update your NIN, hence it is advisable to visit the enrollment center for faster validation, you can visit this link to see how to link your NIN with your SIM card.

Also, you will recall that NIMC introduced a mobile app that allows one to update, download and print the new National Identity Card.

    Why will you say the old National Identity card is no longer useful? It does not make any sense. Your statement would have be anyone who misplaced the the old one should go for the new one instead of you saying the old one is not useful.
