What is Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps?

The Nigerian Civil Security and Defense Corps (NSCDC) is a semi-military institution founded in May 1967. It is a semi-military agent of the Nigerian federal government, which is tasked with protecting against hazards and all attacks or disasters.

Against the nation and its citizenship, the Corps has been legally amended by Letter of Law Number 2 the Year 2003 and Law 6 dated 4 June 2007.

The Nigerian Civil Defense and Security Corps were first introduced during the Nigerian Civil War in Lagos at that time the Federal Federal Territory for sensitization and security of the civilian population in May 1967.

Later it became known as the Lagos Civil Defense Committee, then changed to the current Nigerian Civil Defense and Defense Corps in 1970.

Civil Defence Recruitment 2020 Requirements

  • Applicants must be Nigerian by birth.
  • Applicants must possess the requisite qualifications and certificates.
  • Any certificate or qualification not presented and accepted at the recruitment center shall not be accepted after the recruitment.
  • Applicants must be a fit and present certificate of medical fitness from recognized Government Hospitals.
  • Applicants must be of good character, and must not have been convicted of any criminal offense. * Applicants must not be members of a secret society, Cult or Drug Addict, etc.
  • Applicants must not have been involved in any financial embarrassment.
  • Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 30 years
  • The applicant’s height must not be less than 1.65m for males and 1.60m for females.

Is NSCDC Recruitment Form Out?

Currently, the new recruitment form is not yet out in the year 2020. The Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration and Prisons Service Board (CDFIPB) had invited applications for various positions such as Corps Assistant, Entry-level Corps Assistant, Inspector of Corps, Entry Level Inspector of Corps, Assistant Inspector of Corps, Superintendent of Corps, etc in the year 2019, for which the shortlist will be released in the year 2020 and written examination will also be conducted.

Civil Defence Recruitment Ranks

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps also have ranks such as those of the Nigerian army and police.

They also have command structures of both officers and non-commissioned officers; the lowest rank is that of the Assistant Cadet, while the highest rank is that of the Commander General.

They have both the Cadre and the Superintendent Cadre. The salary structure of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps is based on the rank of the individual officer, just as it is obtained in almost all military and paramilitary organizations in Nigeria.

The salary is also based on the certificate with which the individual is given an appointment.
